If your organization is working to support older adults in one or more of our priority areas, we would love to hear from you.

Grant Cycle Information

We ask all prospective grantees to submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) through our online application system (see below).  Select LOI applicants will then be invited to submit a full grant application.  We open the LOI process for each of our areas of giving once per year.  Currently, our areas of giving are:

  • End of Life Care and Preventing Elder Neglect (Grant Cycle #1)
  • Dementia Care and Brain Degenerative Diseases (Grant Cycle #2)
  • Combating Social Isolation of Older Adults (Grant Cycle #3)

2025 Grant Cycle #2: The current LOI process, with a focus on supporting programs and projects related to Dementia Care and Brain Degenerative Diseases, is open and will remain open until Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 5pm ET.  Select LOI applicants will be invited to submit a full application.  Grant awards are expected to be announced in June 2025.

Future Grant Cycles:

2025 Grant Cycle #3: The LOI process, with a focus on supporting programs and projects related to Combating Social Isolation of Older Adults, will open on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 9am ET and will remain open until Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 5pm ET.  Select LOI applicants will be invited to submit a full application.  Grant awards are expected to be announced in September 2025.

Eligibility & Process

To be considered for funding, organizations must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Must be a nonprofit with a 501(c)3 tax-exempt status or have a fiscal sponsor that has a 501(c)3 tax-exempt status
  • Must be in operation for at least two years

Please note that The Sephardic Foundation on Aging does not support:

  • Individuals
  • Endowments
  • Colleges/Universities
  • Political Organizations/Action Groups
  • Debt reduction
  • Multi-year grant proposals

Please note:

  • You will need to create a free Submittable account, or sign in with Google or Facebook credentials in order to submit an LOI.
  • Please be sure to use an email address for the account to which the applicant organization will maintain access. We will use Submittable to communicate with applicants and grantees. If you use a consultant to assist with applications please ensure that you have access to the account along with the consultant.
  • You can save a draft of your work if you would like to finish filling out the LOI at a later date.
  • If anything changes with the information you submitted, please request to edit the submission.
  • Our platform works best on Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Internet Explorer is not supported. Please make sure you are using a supported browser.
  • We will follow-up with you about your submission by email through the Submittable platform. Please be sure to safelist notification emails from Submittable and check the email you used to sign up for your Submittable Account regularly. When responding to a Submittable notification, please be sure to sign into the platform.

Required Documents for Grant Applications

  • Applicant's most recent audited financial statements (or that of the fiscal sponsor if applicant is a non-U.S. organization)
  • Applicant's most recently filed Form 990 (or that of the fiscal sponsor if applicant is a non-U.S. organization)
  • Most recent IRS 501(c)3 Tax Determination Letter (or that of the fiscal sponsor if applicant is a non-U.S. organization)
  • Applicant's current annual organizational budget and if applicable, Applicant's project budget
